A Chess Dispute
A stationary camera looks on as two dapper gents play a game of chess.
One drinks and smokes, and when he looks away, his opponent moves two
pieces. A fight ensues, first with the squirting of a seltzer bottle,
then with fisticuffs. The combatants wrestle each other to the floor and
continue the fight out of the camera's view, hidden by the table. The

A Daring Daylight Burglary
A burglar breaks into a country house after scaling the garden wall. He
is spotted by a boy who runs to alert the police. Two policemen arrive
and climb the wall. After a struggle with one of the policemen, the
burglar throws him off the roof. An ambulance
arrives and takes away the injured policeman. Meanwhile, the burglar
escapes and is chased by the other policeman across the countryside, but
escapes on a train. The police wire ahead and catch him at the next
station.

The hunters fire away, but the poachers have guns as well, and a fight ensues with casualties for the hunters. Two cops appear and so do dogs as the chase continues. Will the poachers escape, or will they, like the game they were after, be trapped?

Electrocuting an Elephant
A photograph from a January
11, 1903 St. Louis Republic article about the the January 4, 1903
electrocution of Topsy the elephant in an event to raise publicity about
the opening of the new Coney Island amusement park "Luna Park" (at this
point still under construction). The newspaper account says that Topsy
refused to cross the bridge over the lagoon to the execution platform
even when bribed with carrots and apples. She had to be wired up on the
spot where she stood. - Topsy, the famous "Baby" elephant, was electrocuted at Coney Island on January 4, 1903. We secured an excellent picture of the execution. The scene opens with keeper leading Topsy to the place of execution. After copper plates or electrodes were fastened to her feet, 6,600 volts of electricity were turned on. The elephant is seen to become rigid, throwing her trunk in the air, and then is completely enveloped in smoke from the burning electrodes. The current is cut off and she falls forward to the ground dead.—Edison Catalog
The film is composed of three scenes introduced by intertitles:
Scene 1: Condesa de Bureta
A sitting room. A man and a woman loading guns. A group of men wearing guns enter and shoot from the windows. Some of them are hit by shots from outside.
Scene 2: El tío Jorge
A courtyard with an arched gate. A group of armed men behind a makeshift barricade are discussing. Some women bring them food. Soldiers come running in from behind the camera and start shooting at other soldiers coming from the other side of the gate. The invading soldiers reach the barricade but they are pushed back and routed by the defenders encouraged by a man standing on the barricade.
Scene 3: Agustina de Aragón
A cannon served by two men, in front of city walls. Several men are shot dead. A woman enters and seeing the dead men shoots herself the cannon, creating a huge cloud of smoke. When the smoke dissipates, a group of men celebrating victory appears while the woman waves a flag at the top of the city walls.

to be alive with mites, and, in disgust, leaves the table. Hundreds of
mites resembling crabs are seen scurrying in all directions. A wonderful

In an ornate outdoor scene, a painter comes upon a decorated
sculptural niche with a small fountain. Admiring the view, he sets up
his easel and goes off to collect his art students. A moment later, a
merry prankster comes upon the scene, and begins doing magical tricks,
turning a barrel into a pedestal, a ball into a miniature sun, the sun
into a woman's head, and a handkerchief and jacket into her dress. Soon,
in front of the niche, he has completed a statue of a woman in
classical garb.
The painter and his students return, and are pleasantly surprised
to find the statue there. As the painter bustles around the woman, she
comes to life and steals the hat from his head. Then she transforms into
an enormous fountain, into which the laughing prankster douses the
painter.

In the film, a young woman enters the shoe store, accompanied by an
elderly companion. While the older woman settles down in a chair to
read, the young customer sits in the shoe demonstration chair and raises
her foot. The customer selects a high-heeled slipper, and the eager
clerk removes her shoe, and puts on the new shoe. The shot changes to a
close-up of the young woman's ankle as the clerk ties her laces. The
woman's skirt rises slowly, revealing her ankle and her leg. The camera
returns to a wide shot, and we see the clerk lean in to kiss the
customer, which she happily returns. Seeing their embrace, the elderly
woman stands up, and beats the clerk over the head with her umbrella.
The film ends as the clerk flees, and the old woman ushers the young
woman out of the store. Nel film una giovane donna entra nel negozio di scarpe, accompagnata da un anziano compagno.
