A SENSE OF SCALE is a reminiscense to the famous "Sense of Scale" documentary by Berton Pierce form 2011. As the documentary, my experimental short film is all about details and the beauty of practical effects. I want to emphasize the meaning of handmade visuals and the effort it takes to stage sceneries on a small scale. I captured very tiny areas of paint flowing on a piece of paper while zooming in the closest possible with a custom lens setup. All shots are taken with my RED DSMC2 in 8K and several macro lenses. It took me around 1 year to finish this piece. Color graded and optimized for HDR devices.

A SENSE OF SCALE è una reminiscenza del famoso documentario "Sense of Scale" di Berton Pierce del 2011. Come il documentario, il mio cortometraggio sperimentale è incentrato sui dettagli e sulla bellezza degli effetti pratici. Voglio sottolineare il significato delle immagini fatte a mano e lo sforzo necessario per mettere in scena scene su piccola scala. Ho catturato aree molto piccole di vernice che scorrevano su un pezzo di carta mentre ingrandivo il più possibile con una configurazione dell'obiettivo personalizzata. Tutti gli scatti sono realizzati con la mia RED DSMC2 in 8K e diversi obiettivi macro. Mi ci è voluto circa 1 anno per finire questo pezzo. Colore graduato e ottimizzato per dispositivi HDR. Grazie per la visione!

We were commissioned by CreateMe Technologies to produce a film with a series of abstract fabric animations, showcasing the power and potential of the company's technologies for innovative manufacturing and fabric customizations.
The main objective was to find the golden ratio between a brand and an artistic, satisfying and abstract film that allows the viewer to merge within the digital realm.
We used digital techniques such as material scanning, fabric simulations and 3D rendering.
The idea was to go through the 3D route where we were able to have the full creative freedom to mirror the advanced technologies of the company by reproducing fabrics that resemble the real look and feel with a hyperreal surreal language.

Sometimes I think I have explored this entire garden, wandered through
all its paths, roamed up all its hills, and admired all its views.
Lost in reverie, I suddenly detect another pathway once again…
Description:
This experimental animation features the enigmatic bodies of dyed
crystals grown from a chemical process in aqueous solutions. The obscure
process of growing dyed crystals, a once relevant practice in materials
science, has become obsolete and through my recent work, I became
interested in reviving this process. I aimed to bring to life a large
collection of crystals into a moving painting, while calling into
question their relevance as art objects. I discovered the lost art and
science of growing dyed crystals during my residency at the Kahr
Research Group from Bart Kahr who worked with these types of crystals
throughout 30 years. Virtually every frame of the film showcases a
different crystal in the meticulously constructed work. The imagery is
an embroidery of thousands of crystals documented in a unique way I
discovered utilizing scanners during my residency at the Kahr Research
Group. The film was created during my residency at the Santa Barbara
Center for Art Science and Technology. In 2020, this film won the GLAS
Animation Festival grant, which is the only grant in the US for
independent animators in the US.

Questa animazione sperimentale presenta i corpi enigmatici di cristalli colorati cresciuti da un processo chimico in soluzioni acquose. L’oscuro processo di coltivazione dei cristalli colorati, una pratica un tempo rilevante nella scienza dei materiali, è diventato obsoleto e attraverso il mio recente lavoro mi sono interessato a far rivivere questo processo. Il mio obiettivo era dare vita a un'ampia collezione di cristalli in un dipinto in movimento, mettendo in discussione la loro rilevanza come oggetti d'arte. Ho scoperto l'arte e la scienza perdute della coltivazione dei cristalli colorati durante la mia residenza presso il Kahr Research Group di Bart Kahr, che ha lavorato con questi tipi di cristalli per 30 anni. Praticamente ogni fotogramma del film mostra un cristallo diverso nell'opera meticolosamente costruita. Le immagini sono un ricamo di migliaia di cristalli documentati in un modo unico che ho scoperto utilizzando gli scanner durante la mia residenza presso il Kahr Research Group. Integrating surreal and magical elements into a mundane and rural
universe, characterized by an everyday life routine, the result of this
music video is unique yet astonishing.
To achieve this particular aesthetic, we used the Oculus Quest’s
SculptrVR application in the conception of the video. Every single
movement of the characters has been translated from a MOCAP shooting.

I met Antonio while hiking this summer in the French Alps. He was sitting with his two dogs at the top of a mountain pass, looking down on his flock of sheep. We talked for an hour. A month later, I came back with a camera to make this short film with him.
This documentary is a tribute to the shepherd.

Ho incontrato Antonio durante un'escursione quest'estate nelle Alpi francesi. Era seduto con i suoi due cani in cima a un passo di montagna, guardando dall'alto il suo gregge di pecore. Abbiamo parlato per un'ora. Un mese dopo, sono tornato con una macchina fotografica per realizzare questo cortometraggio con lui. Questo documentario è un omaggio al pastore.

I often get told: “You need a TV Show.” Most of the time it is for a reality show, but I wanted to take a stab at trying to make my own show. Inspired by my own experience and the KidSuper AW22 collection I am proud to present the MisAdventures of KidSuper!!!
This was a such a crazy undertaking from trying to produce a whole collection, write a script, cast a group of friends, and bring this vision to life. This was an unrealistic deadline to start with and many people told me we should wait. But you only learn and grow from taking the leap, I have never done a film project where I have learned more. I now know exactly what I want for this series.
I can’t thank enough for all those involved. What a fucking cast of characters!!!!
As many of you know KidSuper has always lived in its own universe. I
wanted to capture the hustle and bustle of starting you own brand as a
TV Show.
Hopefully this leads to a tv show!!!!

It was a joy making this film for the CO OP. It’s always exciting facing a new creative challenge - and it was fun to set the rule, what if we print every frame through a receipt printer? Every frame of animation was printed, cut and filmed in stop-motion to create the final film. I love how it turned out! Thanks to the incredible team of incredibly talented people.

Just downriver from Nelson, British Columbia, professional freerider Kurt Sorge has hand-crafted a compound that dreams are made of. Originally designed to progress his freeride career, Kurt's backyard has become not only a world-class proving ground for local freeriding hopefuls but also a way to reflect on the simple pleasures in life. After traveling the world for many years and competing at the highest levels, Kurt returns home to B.C. to find peace and solace in the mountains.
Really big jumps, a small cabin, and mountains as far as the eye can see are all Kurt really needs for his humble existence. Addicted to the unlimited hang time and vast mountainous terrain, it's clear that Kurt has found his place in this world. Huge trains on the backyard jumps, solo freeriding deep in the mountains, and a quick dip in the local creek, This is Home.
