Galeria Exteril. Extéril
gallery is a project by Teixeira Barbosa which aims at disseminate
non-profit artistic practices. Since its launch until 2005 the project
had a squat attitude at a old factory, where exhibitions took place for a
sort of secret society.
Extéril project exists in a physical as well as in a virtual place and
for the development of art and the artists. Therefore this one is an
alternative/independent space to the circle of the arts as such.
This concept nothing new will bring, but reinforces the marginality and
clandestinity already known of
"portable art".
Portable art, in all its amplitude (mail art, performance, virtual
spaces, etc) can be faced as a tool to this situation, emerging
gradually where the creator also has the role of the theorist and
manager.
At the beginning, Extéril was developed for a virtual space, at the time
was called Altercado. By the was also projected a network of small
galleries. Due to external reasons the gallery Altercado had to stop its
activities as well as another one created by Dani Vila Seoane.
Extéril has continued with its activities as a gallery and online space
as a sole project. Today the project is seen as a work/gallery in
permanent transformation. exhibitions are art works inside an art work.
It is the responsibility of the owner of the gallery the arrangements in
the spaces, physical and virtual as well as the program and information
related to the exhibitions.
The connection between the physical and the virtual space allows artists
to exhibit and promote their work without any intervention from our
side.
On the web, Extéril intends to develop an artistic community, to
disseminate information, to be a research space, critic and of
encounter.

Size of the gallery: 2x2x2 metersExtéril gallery è un progetto di Teixeira Barbosa che mira a diffondere pratiche artistiche senza scopo di lucro. Dal suo lancio fino al 2005 il progetto ha avuto un atteggiamento tozzo in una vecchia fabbrica, dove si svolgevano mostre per una sorta di società segreta. Il progetto Extéril esiste sia in un luogo fisico che virtuale e per lo sviluppo dell'arte e degli artisti. Si tratta quindi di uno spazio alternativo/indipendente al circolo delle arti in quanto tale. Questo concetto non porterà nulla di nuovo, ma rafforzerà la marginalità e la clandestinità già conosciute dell'"arte portatile". L'arte portatile, in tutta la sua ampiezza (mail art, performance, spazi virtuali, ecc.) può essere affrontata come uno strumento in questa situazione, emergendo gradualmente dove il creatore ha anche il ruolo di teorico e manager. All'inizio Extéril era stato sviluppato per uno spazio virtuale, all'epoca si chiamava Altercado. È stata inoltre progettata una rete di piccole gallerie. Per motivi esterni la galleria Altercado ha dovuto interrompere le sue attività così come un'altra creata da Dani Vila Seoane. Extéril ha proseguito la sua attività di galleria e spazio online come progetto unico. Oggi il progetto è visto come un'opera/galleria in permanente trasformazione. le mostre sono opere d'arte dentro un'opera d'arte. È responsabilità del titolare della galleria la sistemazione degli spazi, fisici e virtuali, nonché il programma e le informazioni relative alle mostre. La connessione tra lo spazio fisico e quello virtuale consente agli artisti di esporre e promuovere il proprio lavoro senza alcun intervento da parte nostra. Sul web, Extéril intende sviluppare una comunità artistica, diffondere informazioni, essere uno spazio di ricerca, critico e di incontro. Produrre il massimo con il minimo.
