Anarchism in Cuba 11 - ABRACADABRA

Im Jahr 2016 haben wir uns als FdA an einer Spendenkampagne beteiligt, die zum Ziel hatte, Geld für den Kauf eines Gebäudes in Kuba zusammenzubekommen. Die Föderation leistete schließlich einen bedeutenden Beitrag dazu.

Nachdem den Genoss*innen in Kuba der Kauf eines Objekts in der Hauptstadt Havanna gelang, ist es nun (am Samstag, 5.5.2018) endlich soweit: Das Zentrum ABRA (Soziales Zentrum und Libertäre Bibliothek) öffnet feierlich seine Tore. Die Genoss*innen vor Ort bitten um größtmögliche Verbreitung, ein Wunsch, dem wir nur allzugerne nachkommen. Und wir rufen euch auf, es uns gleichzutun.

This 5th May begins a new stage in the process of emancipation for a group of Cubans with the opening of ABRA: “Centro Social y Biblioteca Libertaria” (Social Centre and Libertarian Library).

With this project the group “Taller Libertario Alfredo López” (a 2012 established, anarchist, antiauthoritarian and anticapitalist initiative, member of the Anarchist Federation of Central America and the Carribean, FACC), in vital cooperation with collectives like the “Observatorio Crítico Cubano”, “Guardabosques” and other individuals, wants to establish an autonomous and sustainable space in present Cuba.

A space to support experiences and practices which are independent of any kind of government (national or international) and any kind of institutions which represent governments. A space which is based on what its participants contribute to it. With ABRA we want to focus on a practice which tries to anticipate the society we dream of with prefigurative means. At the same time we want a practice which is in accord with nature. Specifically this means a minimum of consumption with a maximum of own, environmentally friendly solutions.

This new project is oriented anticapitalist, because capitalism supports relations within people which are based on the ideas of utility, domination, competition and profit, all which does not lead to the kind of society we strive for. All these negative phenomenons are supporese ted by states, businesses and companies which dominate and plunder our land. Therefore the Social Centre understands itself in opposition to all the aforementioned.

On the other hand it is clear that emancipation is not possible without being part of the communities surrounding us. Therefore ABRA exists next to and in the middle of the communities and is therefore likewise affected by the oppression they suffer as well as the victories they win with their struggles. At the same time the project participates in various resistance dynamics and the creation of new affinity groups for which we also grant space in our centre and our projects. ABRA wants to offer space for all those circles of friends, persons and affinity groups which do not limit themselves to the tiny framework of government and opposition, but who, with means of direct action, tackle the diverse questions of everyday life and commit themselves to the creation of new things in all spheres of reality.

This space actively positions against any discrimination based on race, ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, territory, level of education, economic status and all which is directed against the dignity of the people. Besides, we recognize the diversity of opinions (political, ideological, moral etc.) without giving up our own.

ABRA offers a space for exchange in the middle of a commercialized and supervised city and wants to be a place of local, national and international counter-information, a place of self organized education, of remembrance, of parties and encounters; an attempt to support the precarious counter-cultural scene and the productive autonomy which exists in Havana and whole Cuba.

The Social Centre constitutes itself as a place for social, horizontal communication, to give a voice to all those national and international experiences which are not of any interest for the hegemonic institutions, but which contribute to an anti-authoritarian and emancipatory perspective which is of interest for those of us fighting in Cuba.

Means and ends do not contradict each other here: the most important characteristics are horizontality, personal freedom and active engagement based on direct ation.

Desde Cuba se inicia este 5 de mayo de 2018 una nueva etapa en el proceso autoemancipatorio de un grupo de cubanos y cubanas, con la apertura de ABRA: Centro Social y Biblioteca Libertaria.
Este empeño del Taller Libertario Alfredo López (iniciativa anarquista, anti-autoritaria y anticapitalista surgida en 2012, que forma parte de la Federación Anarquista del Caribe y Centroamérica), con el efectivo y vital involucramiento de colectivos afines como Observatorio Crítico Cubano, Guardabosques, así como algunas otras energías individuales; intenta construir un espacio autónomo y sostenible en la Cuba de hoy.
Un espacio para promover experiencias y prácticas independientes de cualquier gobierno foráneo o nacional, o instituciones que los representen, centrado en las capacidades de quienes se involucren. Desde ABRA se insistirá en una práctica que prefigure el tipo de sociabilidad que soñamos, y en un tipo de relacionamiento amigable con el medioambiente, que se traduce en un mínimo de consumo con un máximo de soluciones propias no contaminantes.
Este nuevo empeño es esencialmente anticapitalista, pues el capitalismo promueve un tipo de relaciones entre las personas basadas en el utilitarismo, la supremacía, la competencia, la ganancia, todo lo cual no conduce a la sociabilidad que aspiramos. Lo anterior es sostenido por los Estados, las empresas y corporaciones que dominan y depredan al mundo y a nuestro país. Por ello el Centro Social se coloca en las antípodas de todo lo anterior.
Por otra parte, no es posible la emancipación sin formar parte de las comunidades. Es por ello que ABRA existe de cara a ellas y dentro de ellas, no ajena a las opresiones que sufren, ni a las victorias que logran en su lucha. De igual modo se involucra en las dinámicas de resistencia y creación de otros grupos afines, a quienes les damos cabida en nuestro Centro y nuestros proyectos. ABRA pretende aportar un espacio para todas aquellas sociabilidades, personas y grupos de afinidades que no se limitan al estrecho marco del conflicto gobierno-oposición, se plantean el abordaje directo y por cuenta propia de las diversas cuestiones de la vida cotidiana y la creación en todas las esferas de la realidad.
Este espacio se sitúa activamente en contra de las discriminaciones por motivos de raza, origen étnico, género, sexualidad, orientación sexual, identidad de género, territorio, nivel de instrucción, estatus económico, y cualquier otra en contra de la dignidad de las personas. Asimismo, reconoce la pluralidad de pensamientos (políticos, ideológicos, morales, etc.), sin renunciar nunca a ejercer los nuestros.
ABRA se brinda como lugar de confraternización, en medio de una ciudad mercantilizada y vigilada, y ofrece un espacio para la contra-información local, nacional e internacional, la formación autodidacta, conmemoraciones, celebraciones, encuentros; buscando incentivar la precaria escena contracultural, productiva autónoma, existente en La Habana y la región Cuba.
El Centro Social se constituye como espacio de comunicación social horizontal para dar voz a aquellas experiencias nacionales e internacionales que no son de interés para las agencias hegemónicas, pero que tributan a una perspectiva antiautoritaria y emancipatoria que sí interesa a quienes luchamos en Cuba.
Aquí medios y fines no se contradicen: son la horizonalidad, la libertad de la persona, la participación efectiva a partir del involucramiento directo.
