Black is Black
From The British Empire & Beyond.

Los Bravos were a Spanish beat group, formed in 1965 and based in Madrid. Their single "Black Is Black" reached No. 2 in the United Kingdom in July 1966 and No. 4 in the United States (the first Spanish group to do so), selling over a million records.
Biography
The band was an amalgamation of two pop groups, Los Sonor from Madrid and The Runaways from Mallorca. Los Bravos' lead singer, Mike Kogel, was from Germany. His vocal styling was sometimes likened to Gene Pitney's. "Black is Black" reached no. 2 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1966, no. 4 in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and sold over one million copies worldwide. The track was written by Tony Hayes and Steve Wadey, in their recording studio for cutting demo discs in Hoo St Werburgh, near Rochester, Kent, England. The song was later covered by Johnny Hallyday and the French-based outfit Belle Epoque, and in 1977 their disco version of the song coincidentally also reached No. 2 in the UK.Los Bravos' follow-up single, "I Don't Care", reached no. 16 in the UK in October 1966. In 1967, the band participated in the San Remo Music Festival, failing to qualify for the final with the song "Uno come noi" in Italian. The band were the subjects of two Spanish comedic movies: in 1967 Los chicos con las chicas (The Boys With the Girls), directed by Javier Aguirre and in 1968, ¡Dame un poco de amooor...! (Give Me a Little Looove!), directed by José María Forqué and Francisco Macián. Their song "Going Nowhere" from the soundtrack to Los chicos con las chicas was re-issued as a part of the Rhino Records series, Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts from the British Empire and Beyond, 1964–1969.
One of Los Bravos' founding members, Manuel Fernández, committed suicide on 20 May 1968, at the age of 23, after the death of his bride, Lottie Rey, in an auto accident. Tony Anderson sang with The Warriors, with his brother Jon Anderson, before joining Los Bravos. Jon Anderson later formed Yes.

Lyrics
Black is black, I want my baby back
It's grey, it's grey, since she went away, oh oh
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
It's grey, it's grey, since she went away, oh oh
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
If I had my way, she'd be here today
But she'd go in time, and leave me to cry again, oh no
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
But she'd go in time, and leave me to cry again, oh no
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
I can't choose, it's too much to lose when our love's too strong
Maybe if she would come back to me, then I can't go wrong
Maybe if she would come back to me, then I can't go wrong
Bad is bad, that I feel so sad
It's time, it's time, that I felt peace of mind, oh oh
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
It's time, it's time, that I felt peace of mind, oh oh
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
I can't choose, it's too much to lose when our love's too strong
Maybe if she would come back to me, then I can't go wrong
Maybe if she would come back to me, then I can't go wrong
Black is black, I want my baby back
It's grey, it's grey, since she went away, oh oh
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
It's grey, it's grey, since she went away, oh oh
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue
'Cause I, I'm feelin' blue, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue

Lyrics
Monday morning feels so bad
Everybody seems to nag me
Come on Tuesday, I feel better
Even my old man looks good
Everybody seems to nag me
Come on Tuesday, I feel better
Even my old man looks good
Wednesday just won't go
Thursday goes too slow
I've got Friday on my mind
Thursday goes too slow
I've got Friday on my mind
I'm gonna have fun in the city
I'll be with my girl, she's so pretty
She looks fine tonight
She is outta sight to me
I'll be with my girl, she's so pretty
She looks fine tonight
She is outta sight to me
Tonight, I'll spend my bread
Tonight, I'll lose my head
Tonight, I've got to get tonight
Monday, I have Friday on my mind
Tonight, I'll lose my head
Tonight, I've got to get tonight
Monday, I have Friday on my mind
Do the five day drag once more
No one, nothing else that bugs me
Now I'm working for the rich man
Hey, I'll change that scene one day
No one, nothing else that bugs me
Now I'm working for the rich man
Hey, I'll change that scene one day
Tonight, I'll might get mad
Tomorrow I'll be glad
'Cause I've got Friday on my mind
Tomorrow I'll be glad
'Cause I've got Friday on my mind
I'm gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she's so pretty
She looks fine tonight
She is outa' sight to me
Be with my girl, she's so pretty
She looks fine tonight
She is outa' sight to me
Tonight, I'll spend my bread
Tonight, I'll lose my head
Tonight, I've got to get tonight
Monday, I have Friday on my mind
Tonight, I'll lose my head
Tonight, I've got to get tonight
Monday, I have Friday on my mind
I'm gonna have fun in the city
I'll be with my girl, she's so pretty
I'm gonna have fun in the city
I'll be with my girl, she's so pretty
I'm gonna have fun in the city
I'll be with my girl, she's so pretty
I'm gonna have fun in the city
I'll be with my girl, she's so pretty
I'm gonna have fun in the city
