Michael Barone
I started in the arts at the age of 13 in oils and entered my first professional juried exhibition in 1975 where I won an honorable mention. It seemed painting wasn't in the cards for me due to being diagnosed with arthritis at the age of 15. I enrolled in the University of Delaware with the thoughts of a science major but took an introduction to photography course and was hooked. I received my Bachelor of Fines Arts degree from the University of Delaware in 1984. After that I was a photographer and lab technician for the Playboy Casino/Hotel in Atlantic City. I opened my first commercial photography studio in 1988 in Egg Harbor Township, NJ and photographed everything from weddings, to portraits to commercial headshots. All along the commercial studio helped fuel my art of photographing the human form. Over the past 30 years I have moved to Pennsylvania where I opened another store front photography studio but all along kept the art of my photography alive. I have been in many group exhibitions and also had a few solo shows. Now I living in the Lehigh Valley area of Eastern Pennsylvania I have a chance to embrace the lively arts and cultural scene that is here.
