Shirley Valentine Barbados
This documentary explores another form of tourism in Barbados and the
Caribbean that is often masked by traditional tourism, that of Female
Sex Tourism. Every year many white single females come to the Caribbean
and Barbados seeking sexual liaisons with black men. I therefore did
this documentary as a light hearted investigation into this area,
especially after reading a little about the British lady Shirley
Valentine who was bored at home and decided to take the adventure of a
lifetime, to Europe, in order to spice her life up a little. I am just
simply seeking to present, through this process, some typical myths,
taboos and stereotypes as expressed by a cross section of the subjects
interviewed, as I tell my story on the presence of female sex tourism in
Barbados.
