Ebtisam Aziz
It’s no surprise that Abdulaziz, 40, studied mathematics. Numbers and calculations pervade this Sharjah-based artist’s work, from the precise geometry of her drawings to the cryptic codes she printed on a bodysuit for a long-running performance piece. A former student of Kazem’s, she expands upon his and Sharif’s passion for systems. Her work is in the collections of Deutsche Bank, the Sharjah Art Foundation and members of Emirati royalty.Ebtisam AbdulAziz is a contemporary Emirati artist and writer born and raised in Sharjah. She works with geometry and mathematics to address issues of belonging and identity through installations, performance art and other media.

Ebtisam Abdulaziz is a multidisciplinary artist & writer. Reflecting
her Bachelor’s Degree in Science & Mathematics, Abdulaziz
incorporates her unique perspective on mathematics and the structures of
systems to explore issues of identity and culture through
installations, performance pieces and works on paper. Her works are
evidence of a fascinated with systemic ways to produce emotionally or
intellectually meaningful forms of expression. Combining the scientific
with the arbitrary, at times juxtaposing the two in order to force the
viewer to question their assumptions about rules in the natural and
formulaic world, Abdul-Aziz is methodical in her explorations. Her
approach functions within the realm of the Gestalt theory and the
recognition that understanding something is greater than perceiving the
sum of all of its parts..Abdulaziz has exhibited as part of the
Inaugural UAE and ADACH Pavilions at 53rd Venice Biennale, as well as at
the 7th & 10th Sharjah Biennial; Languages of the Desert, the Kunst

Dubai: Five women were honoured for their charity work as part of a local campaign in support of International Women's Day on March 8, 2012. The ceremony was held yesterday at the Mall of the Emirates, the organiser of the campaign.
Abdul Aziz, an Emirati artist who was also honoured, actively supports
Start, a non-profit organisation established by Art Dubai and Al Mahad
Foundation that uses art to heal and educate poor children across the
Middle East.
She told Gulf News, "As an artist and as a woman, every chance I get to showcase my skills is an attempt to educate people that a woman artist can do more than create works of art in a studio. She can take that art and help charities. It is my message for all Emirati women that they can do more just by being an artist."
